Swimsuit Styles

Q: How do I choose the right swimwear?
A: Best answer would be - Come to Ozzie Cozzie and let us help you !

It helps to know your body shape - what are the good parts that can be accented or played up  and which are the not so good areas that you probably want to hide or play down.

If your bust needs support then buy swimwear with hidden underwire.  If your tummy needs to be pulled in then try a Miracle Suit as in the picture on the left.  There are pants with tummy mesh control, or tankinis or one pieces with ruching in the fabric over the tummy area. Comfortable swimwear is a must - if the style and the colour are perfect but the size is too small, then it may end up never being worn.

Sporty, Fun Details: Details are great on swimwear and can add that extra something that people just love. Find bikini bottoms with fun belts or ties, as well as tops with all kinds of buckles, ties, jewels frills or gathers. Plain matt colours look so much more special when they have some added details such as these.

Bright, Fun Colours: Swimsuits come in every colour and a great variety of patterns, but it is so important to choose the colours that suit YOU !  If you like bright colours and bold patterns and they look good then great, but go for colours that match with your eyes, hair and skin tone.  You won't be wearing a lot of fabric so it's important that the colours match with your own natural colouring.

Q:

How do I avoid belly bulges in a tankini?
A: Tankinis are great and have been swimsuit saviors to many. They can look fantastic but they do need to fit well and if the singlet is too short or too tight you can get unsightly belly bulges protruding out and over the tankini bottoms. This year we have a lot of singlets with adjustable ruched sides so you can alter the length of the top to the length of your torso. Also Sunseeker make their singlet tops slightly “A” line with small slits in the side seams for an easier fit. Find a bottom that ensures adequate coverage, not too tight that doesn't dig into the hips and make sure that the top and the bottom meet.

Q:

Which style is best if I have a small bust?
A:

If you want to accentuate and highlight your bust,  it may be a good idea to choose a top with underwire and padding. This type of top can work like a push-up bra to support and frame small busts. In addition, try to find a top with a triangle or other shaped cups to create curves. A tie-front bikini top can be tightened to create subtle cleavage, as well. Padded bandeau- style tops can work really well for the smaller chest too. Most swimwear has padding which can be removed or added to if necessary.

Q:

Which style will enhance curves if I have a boy shape?
A: To accentuate curves in a boy shape, look for a swimsuit with a high cut leg and a low, curve enhancing neckline. Try to find a suit that gathers around the neckline; these gathers will make a boy shape seem much curvier. Try to avoid dark-coloured, tank-style swimsuits that draw attention away from the shape of your body.

Q:

Which style of suit will provide the support I need for a large bust, but still look fun and attractive?
A: The new best friend of the large busted women in swimsuit fashion design is the hidden underwire which can be found in bikini tops, tankini singlets and one piece swimsuits. The key to flattering and supporting a large bust is to look for a swimsuit or bikini top that provides the same support as your favourite bra. Generally, look for a suit with wide set straps and a flat neckline that will minimize the bust while still supporting. Halter neck styles give cleavage and minimize the effect of a large bust. Also, many of our suits offer convertible straps so it is possible to alter the top from an over the shoulder to a halter style or cross backed for extra support. Moontide make fantastic D/DD swimwear, so comfortable and supportive without underwire.
